Þessa mynd málaði ég í Fornámi Myndlistarskólans í Reykjavík. Ég man hvað mér fannst það gaman. Ég gleymdi tímanum, gleymdi sjálfri mér og sökkti mér ofan í litina, formin og skuggana.

Myndefnið er einfalt; epli, tekanna og flaska. Klassískt kyrralífsverkefni. Samt er það ekki það sem ég tengi sterkast við þegar ég horfi á myndina í dag. Ég sé frekar gleðina sem fylgdi því að vera að læra, prófa og uppgötva.

Síðar gaf ég Bellu vinkonu minni verkið. Hún hélt upp á það og átti það þar til hún lést í febrúar 2026. Nú hefur myndin ratað aftur til mín og ber með sér nýja sögu sem ég gat ekki séð fyrir þegar ég málaði hana.

Þess vegna er þetta ekki lengur bara mynd af epli, tekönnu og flösku. Hún er líka minning um vináttu, um sköpunargleði og um það hvernig listaverk geta ferðast á milli fólks og safnað merkingu á leiðinni.

I painted this picture in the Fornám at the School of Fine Arts in Reykjavík. I remember how much I enjoyed it. I forgot about time, forgot about myself and immersed myself in the colors, the forms and the shadows.

The subject is simple; an apple, a teapot and a bottle. A classic still life project. Yet that is not what I associate most with when I look at the image today. I see more of the joy that came with learning, experimenting and discovering.

Later I gave the work to my friend Bella. She cherished it and had it until she passed away in February 2026. Now the picture has found its way back to me and carries with it a new story that I could not have foreseen when I painted it.

Therefore, this is no longer just a picture of an apple, a teapot and a bottle. It is also a memory of friendship, of the joy of creativity and of how works of art can travel between people and gather meaning along the way.
